The site-specific installation, Well at Susak, was created during my involvement at Susak Expo 2006, off the coast of Croatia. The piece was inspired by the location of the island and the speed and tempo of the community. Although only a short boat trip from mainland, the community is cautiously aware of technical growth and over construction on their island. The pace is slow, all within walking distance, without cars or roads.
Well at Susak incorporates a poem about solitude and space situated on the lid of a kitchen well. Inside the well, connected by a rope is a pie plate with miniature model trees.
